Mentarang, or its scientific name Pholas Orientalis, is a species of shellfish that 

lives in muddy areas along the coast of Kuala Perlis. This creature has thin skin 

and usually prefers low temperature water. Mentarang is traditionally baked/grill using

 charcoal as a base. It can be purchase and found near the road stalls along side the road of Kuala Perlis.(source from Jabatan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Negara)
